Investing in People

Use the worksheet to see what the Bible has to say about Jesus' love for people and what it means to love and serve those around us.

God has given each of us some time, talent, and treasure to invest in fulfilling his two great commandments: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind ... Love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37,39). So, as we each begin to chart a new course in life, we may want to think about partnering with God and investing our gifts in service to other people. There is nothing more rewarding than dedicating what we like to do, and are good at doing, in service to God and people.

More than 2000 years ago, Jesus demonstrated what it means to love people. He taught and ministered to crowds of people under the hot sun and experienced hunger and thirst. He lived in their world and walked their narrow streets. He gave himself—his time, resources, wisdom, knowledge, power, and ultimately his life—for the benefit of other people, even those who hated him. And no one in the history of the world has done anything as significant as he did (and is still doing!).

Print the worksheet (in PDF format at right), look up the verses and see what they reveal about Jesus' love for people and what it means for us to love the people around us.
